Gratitude #16

I am very lucky to have wonderful friends. The Caloundra crew treated us to a beautiful weekend. They went out of their way to look after me. Thank you.

Gratitude #12

Tonight I give thanks to my darling Miss G who decided to make dinner for us tonight. She took care to 'plate it up' and served it to me like I was in a restaurant. Her enthusiasm whilst preparing and cooking is something I give thanks for too.

Great sausages and salad. Served by Miss G.

Dog New Tricks

I have been teaching myself (through youtube) how to knit continental style. I first learnt to knit as a child and have taken up the needles off and on since. I learnt American style - which is what most of us know where we hold the yarn in our right hand and 'throw' the yarn over the needle to make a stitch.

Continental knitting is done by holding the yarn in your left hand and 'picking' it up with the needle in the right hand to make the stitch. Basically it is a more efficient way of knitting. I'm a pretty quick 'thrower' but I like a challenge and there is the notion that it is easier on the wrists and hands which would certainly help.
I'm picking a purl stitch in the photo!

The funniest thing is that I'm knitting like a kid again and my tension is all over the place!
I'm just getting in lots of practice by knitting squares (loose and wobbly ones).
It's an interesting process relearning a skill. It seems this dog ain't that old yet.

Gratitude #11

Little moments of thanks.

My sweet treat. Peanut Brittle.

C25K - Week 3

Yesterday I started week 3 of the program -
5 minute walm up then 2 repetitions of the following
Jog 90 seconds
Walk 90 seconds
 Jog 3 minutes
Walk 3 minutes
Then 5 minute cool down.
I was daunted by the 3 minutes - but they weren't that bad.
I still can't fathom myself running 5 K. Something big to aim for.

My fibromyalgia/fatigue has been bad of late so my morning exercise is pretty much taking all my oomph for the day. Will persevere though - there has to be that time when the exercise gives me energy instead of taking all I have!

Gratitude #5

I am grateful for this so often. So many nights.

Dinner cooked by my hubby. With leftovers.

You Better Run

I made the effort to lift my two feet off the ground and started to run a little a few weeks back. Then I was sick - 2 lots of tummy bugs and a head cold - and the death to my short lived bout of exercising ensued.
In my angry phase I decided I would start the quest again and looked into some help.
I found Couch to 5K (C25K).
I have completed four sessions of the program - to find out more info check out the founding website here and another good website here.
I downloaded their app and it has been great.
My goal is to compete in the Bridge to Brisbane 5K section.

I hope running can be a tool for my recovery.
I hope I find that love runners seem to have.
I hope I stick with it.

Gratitude #1

I know this has so been there and done that but have been inspired to take this step towards wellness by posting things I am grateful for.

My new clothes line. In the sun.

Many a New Day

The start of something new.
A little over a week ago I hit a bottom again. I had a huge cathartic cry in my beautiful new bath. A big teary, desperate conversation with M (my hubby and beloved). A heavy, long sleep.
I got up Monday and got angry. I used the anger to fuel my rise. I didn't stay in bed for the whole week. I didn't even feel too sorry for myself. I had a new conviction to help myself get better.

My motivation and conviction is waining today. So I will focus on something. My new blog.
The last one was not only about my depression - it was depressing.
I needed to come to a bright place and I needed to not be 'bluehart' anymore.

I am J-M. Hope to hear from you soon.
